Re: andrew ferrance
Holiday was great, my best friend was in town for 4 days, and I rarely see him, so that was awesome. Went to see the Jackets/Ducks game with him on Wednesday, and then we went to the Pens/Devils game last night.

I'd prefer to see Sid get it, partially out of favoritism, and partially because I feel he deserves it. Sid was screwed by Olczyk, who insisted on putting Lemieux and Recchi and Leclair out in important situations (i.e., no. 1 pp.), which is why Sid's scoring dropped off. When Therrien came in and put him on the first PP unit, and is playing him in EVERY key situation, Sid's got like, 9 points in 5 games, and is playing the best he has all season. With the pressure he's under, and the way he's handling it, I'd love to see him get it.

Though if Phaneuf in Calgary, my favorite dark horse for the award, won the Calder, I wouldn't complain at all. Kid is a hell of a defenseman for 20 years old, being used in key defensive and offensive scenarios, and doing a hell of a job at both. And considering how long it USUALLY takes a d-man to develop, he's way ahead of schedule as far as his development goes. He's still making mistakes, but not near as many as your typical rookie defenseman. So I'm pulling for either Phaneuf or Crosby for the Calder, but again, I'm biased.

Re: andrew ferrance
All Calgary hatred aside, yea I wouldnt mind if Phaneuf wins, i have a lot of respect for that kid. I esp. love Bob Mackenzie's "double dion" phrase last world juniors.

I sort of think Crosby is over hyped now. I mean, he got the A...wtf. I think Ovechkin has a better shot, better size and once he becomes more acccustomed to Canadian style hockey, he'll be a better all round player.

Shat, tonight, US vs. Canada world Juniors. Im volunteering at the FanFest part of hte World Juniors. Sort of jealous of my friend hwo gets to sell 50/50 at the games AND WATCH THEM. If canada wins tonight, everyone is soooo getting shitfaced.

I think that the US morale may be a bit torn from the loss to Switz. Have u followed the world Juniors at all?

Oh, i also read your post about Bertuzzi and the Olympics and I fully agree. I mean, I dont mind bertuzzi, but Spezza deserved it more than Bertuzzi. WAY MORE. And I would even question Nash over Spezza because Nash has been out for so long, you know? WHy would you tear up a perfect combination set out for you already with Spezza and Heatley? Oh man, Gretzky has really lost it. Also..Shane Doan? eehh, i think that was more of a, "well he's the captain of my team so i guess i have to" decision.

anyhow, off to bed! I gotta work at 9 hahaha.

Re: andrew ferrance
Frankly--Crosby completely deserves the A. Hell, he deserves the C, he's a hell of a better leader than Mario. They put a wireless microphone on Crosby all the time for our local coverage, and it is amazing how much time he spends explaining to linemates how things should be done. Inevitably, a few shifts later, the play he discusses comes up, and they get a great scoring chance on it. The knowledge he has of the game at his age is astounding. As far as size...there's not much Crosby can do about that. He's only 5'11, but he's nearly 200lbs, which is huge for a guy as short as he is. If you saw the way he completely ROCKED Hal Gill, Derian Hatcher, and Marek Malik in the span of a week (each of them at least 4 inches and 30-50lbs bigger than Sid himself.), you noticed...he can throw his weight around, he's not afraid of the physical aspect of the game. There's been so much bitching--mostly from Philly fans, who are so fucking biased it makes me sick--about Sid's "whining" about calls. There have been so damn many non-calls this year, and there isn't a player on this Penguins team who has the balls to stick up for him. He's doing what he can, he knows that dropping the gloves is putting his team under, because they lose their best player for at LEAST 5 minutes, and he's risking injury to himself. I'd love to have heard what people said about Yzerman getting the C at 19, I wonder how much they were bitching THEN. It isn't as if a leadership role is completely unheard of for an 18 year old. And frankly, even by process of elimination--there is not another player on the Pens roster DESERVING of the A. He's leading them in goals, assists and points, playing hard EVERY shift, which is so much more than any of the vets can say. I am SO high on Crosby, because I see night in and night out what he can do--and what he has the POTENTIAL to do. And he's STILL 2 years younger than Ovechkin. It'll be really interesting to see what they can do when they're both in their primes.

As far as the Olympics. I can see putting Nash in. He OWNED World Championships, and he was fantastic in the camp over the summer. So I can get that. And even Doan, while I don't agree...he worked well with Draper and Maltby as a checking line guy.

But Bertuzzi? He hasn't been good in high pressure situations, he brings a TON of controversy, and he hasn't played well enough to really deserve a spot above and beyond anything else. He has created a dark spot in the history of the sport, and I will NOT be able to cheer for him. Period. Canada said it wanted to "keep the team from the WCs together," ...and yet they added Bertuzzi despite him not playing at WCs. Spezza seriously got screwed. He IS the future of Team Canada, why not include him on the roster, and put Crosby on the taxi squad. These are two guys that are going to be HUGE for Canada for the next 15-20 years, why not give them a taste of what its like?

Re: andrew ferrance
*G* You were at WJCs? Awesome!

One of the Canadian boys, Kristopher Letang, was at Pens Training Camp in September, and oh god, he was so adorable and sweet. He doesn't speak much english, just very few things, "hello, my name is. I'm 18 years old." blah blah blah, the basics. But seriously, wow, he's so damn cute.

Who is this boy you are in love with??

Re: andrew ferrance
oh my. I know. All the french players on the Canadian team (letang, latendresse, pouliot) are so good looking. I love their accents as well.

Okay slovakian boy's name is Martin Grundling..I think haha. And he's really shy especially since the other Slovakian players are complete sleezes (actually). So he's nothing like them and got really awkward when we met them and they were all being forward and stuff.

Here's picture with me and 3 of them, he's the one in the Old Navy shirt. The one behind me isn't bad either. He came in the room in his swimsuit and i just wanted to be like, "WAIT! PICTURE TIME." I so should have...oh theres another thing to regret haha.
